#WPi participated in a 2-Day Charette along with other allied professionals to craft 10 County Parks for Georgetown County, South Carolina.
Last week’s 2-Day Park Planning Charette occurred in Georgetown County, SC. #WPi participated along with other allied professionals to craft 10 County Parks for Georgetown County, SC. Key team players included #WPi Mark L. Baker, ASLA, Partner-in-Charge, Kyle Theodore, ASLA, Principal and HGBD’s Richard Bailey, ASLA, Principal. The 300 acre, eight oak park site located just west of Georgetown will most likely be the first park constructed with a desired completion date of June 2012. This unprecedented project approach involves four of the top park & recreation planning firms from across the state. Following the charette each firm will advance detail designs for the parks within each district.

#WPI #Mark Baker participated in an Unconstrained Vision Workshop for the Town of Hilton Head Mayor's Task Force.
The Town of Hilton Head's Mayor's Task Force was formed to establish a vision for the island over the next twenty years. As a result, the Task Force members invited a diverse group of individuals that particpated in an Unconstrained Vision Workshop. The panel of attendees were faced with questions pertaining to future trends in the world, how it will affect Hilton Head Island and what solutions would be needed. David Ames, Task Force Chairman, #Mark Baker, Partner of #WPi and Marc Frey, CEO of Frey Media Holding, participated in organizing the workshop. Click Here for the more details.

Grand Opening Ceremony for Hilton Head Island's The Children Center! #WPi provided the master plan, playground design and landscape design.
The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The Children’s Center at Jarvis Creek Park, Hilton Head Island was held Saturday, June 26th, 2010. Wood+Partners provided master planning services as well as detailed playground and landscape design and permitting support. Located at Jarvis Creek Park, the site contains a $4.5 million, 19,000 square-foot childcare facility, as well as individual playgrounds for infants, 1-3 year olds, and 3-5 year olds; tricycle tracks; a water play area; outdoor art & dining areas; and parking and support facilities.

"New Community - School Garden" #WPi Shawn Kalbli led the LA Graduate Studio that developed the Master Plan for Nims Middle School Garden
Community Gardens are growing the public's interest more and more each day and the Nims Middle School's garden isn't any different. Located in the heart of Tallahassee, the community garden and teaching courtyard was a community effort along with Master Planning efforts through the School of Architecture at Florida A&M University's Graduate Studio led by Adjunct Professor #WPi Shawn Kalbli. #WPi David Malcolm is a Board Member with Keep Tallhassee-Leon County Beautiful and oversaw development of the project. Construction is Moving along on Tyger River Park! #WPi provided Master Planning Services for the West Spartanburg County Park
WPi was commissioned to prepare master planning and construction document services for the 100 acre regional park. Tyger River Park includes facilities and activities for the entire family. Phase 1 facilities under construction include a 12 field youth baseball complex, park center building, and tournament stadium. A “park within in a park” community space is located at the core of the ballfield complex and includes a two acre nature-based playground and numerous leisure trails. The Annual Maymester Tour is on Hilton Head Island, SC this year and is hosted by #WPi Perry L. Wood, FASLA and Dr. Terry Farris, as well as many local participants and sponsers.
